Give them independance, with a stipulation NONE of them can cross the border to England when it all blows up,theyve had it comming set em free lets end the bailouts and let the SNP die its natural death Agree but if they cross the border to work, they pay their tax to England
 Share this content via...

Janus 28 #101 Posted November 28, 2020 I cannot help thinking that Nicola Sturgeon is overtly biased in favour of leaving. It sometimes seems to be a bit hostile. Maybe the underlying hostility is because she is somewhat controlled by the UK government?
 Share this content via...

Maybe the underlying hostility is because she is somewhat controlled by the UK government? Erm, is that a surprise? She’s the leader of the Scottish nationalist party, being governed by a pro brexit, right wing bunch of Tory chancers in a country with hardly any Tory representatives and the country was solidly pro eu. I don’t know how you could possibly think she’s overly bias on leaving. It’s literally her mandate.
 Share this content via...

Cyclecar 24 #104 Posted November 28, 2020 I sometimes wonder if the SNP, canny by nature, don't really want full-blown independence, because with it will come awesome responsibilities. Better to keep demanding a referendum and castigating London as the source of all their problems, with the objective of getting more funding from central government, plus some additional powers in some minor areas. They can then present this as a 'victory' to the Scottish electorate at Assembly election time, as a means of retaining power in Holyrood. But winning a refrendum, and going independent carries the risk of the Shetland Islands also having a referendum, with a view to rejoining Norway (post 1469). This would see a massive area of the North Sea come under Norwegian sovereignty, with all the fish and the gas..... At the last count, about 35% of Shetlanders thought this a good idea, they would have little to lose and a lot to gain. Edinburgh care less about them than London! Happy distraction from the Brexit and the Virus..
 Share this content via...

She is opposite to Westminster in every possible way, and Scotland is the same. Holyrood has an SNP majority, most of the MPs representing Scottish constituencies in Westminster are SNP. Short of painting her face blue and having a go at Boris with a bloody great sword she can’t be overtly bias - she has an overwhelming mandate to be just that however you want to slice it. Janus 28 #107 Posted November 28, 2020 She certainly does nothing to hide how she feels about breaking away. What must all those people in Scotland that want to remain think of her?
 Share this content via...

What must all those people in Scotland that want to remain think of her? They probably dont like her that much. Fortunately for them both labour and conservative north of the border are very much unionists. Voters have options up there, the majority seem to prefer Nicola sturgeon.
