Reported them stolen I assume?  because they'll definitely get used for crime.  You usually need the V5 to be able to get plates now as well.

 

There's some motorfactors down London road IIRC, might be worth phoning a few to see if they do plates.

Halfords are £32, which isn't that bad really.

As geared says you will need at least log book perhaps another form of I.d. As well .Most car spares can /will make you replacements  expect to pay around £25-30 for pair

Op probably needs them quite quick .with eBay it’s going to be a couple of days at least before they receive replacements

Last set of plates I had done online were £23 delivered, extra £9 to have them made while you wait seems pretty decent.

 

Maybe try some hex-head self-tappers or something to hold them in, might deter the thieves in future?

Try Towsure in Hillsborough,  if memory serves me right they're about 7 quid each or you can make your own with the sticky on number/letter bits.
