Janus 28 #2 Posted November 5, 2019 Realistically, there are only 3 things that I know of to deal with mice. Poison, good traps and having a cat in the property. As far as I know the council only use poison. While ever there is a food supply the mice will keep coming.
 Share this content via...
gettingon 11 #3 Posted November 5, 2019 if you don't mind the scent of peppermint in your place, then: get you a bag of cotton wool balls or those flat round makeup pads. get you a bottle (or 2) of 100% pure peppermint oil. be sure to read and follow any directions or warnings on the bottle ... some are more pure than others. place cotton balls or pads on floor around outside edges of rooms and in corners (this is where mice like to travel). if you have an idea of where they may be entering your flat, place particular focus in that area (commonly kitchen areas). if you're seeing mouse droppings in your cabinets and/or drawers then drop a cotton ball in a corner of each one of those ... such as dish cupboards or cutlery drawers. then go round and place a few drops of peppermint oil on each cotton ball or pad. good luck. hope this helps. geared 319 #7 Posted November 5, 2019 A bait station is ten quid, pots of poison are about a fiver. Position the station in areas you think the mouse will be running through, ideally on the path they actually take if you know. The mouse will do the rest for you. Pyrotequila 403 #9 Posted November 5, 2019 The council will only really do anything if you end up getting rats in your property, mice they aren't bothered about 😉
 Share this content via...

Janus 28 #11 Posted November 6, 2019 I agree that the idea of a cat seems to be the best option. If you get a litter tray and keep the cat indoors, I would not think you will have much trouble/mess from the cat. Even the scent of cat urine will deter mice. Just use someone's else's cat's urine.
 Share this content via...
