RJRB 688 #1 Posted November 3, 2019 Our club bought a cheap mobile with Vodaphone SIM card, because this is the only service in our area. Topped up with £10,but due to negligible usage it appears that we have been taken off the service which is fair enough. However the display now says “Emergency calls only”,which is all that we bought it for as we are out in the sticks. So the question is will it work for 999 calls only for the foreseeable future? A mobile has to be able to make a 999 (emergency) call regardless of status of sim-card and/or credit... I believe, you can even call 999 without a SIM card on most phones/networks...
