CathS   10 #1 Posted November 2, 2019 Is it normal for a leak to smell like cat pee?? We have a dorma window which is leaking, waiting for roofer to come round. The room absolutely stinks though. Any idea why??
 Share this content via...
tzijlstra   11 #2 Posted November 2, 2019 perhaps you have a rodent problem that you didn't know about. They can burrow through insulating material in all sorts of cavity spaces, the leak might be pulling water through a nest.
 Share this content via...
CathS   10 #3 Posted November 2, 2019 No I think there would be other signs if it were rats Plus it's the loft ceiling, not walls or anything
 Share this content via...
Annie Bynnol   612 #4 Posted November 2, 2019 We used to blame the cat for this smell in our bay window, it turned out to be damp in the bricks and bitumen/concrete floor/underlay. Resolved by proofing the brick walls and new carpet and underlay. Monkeyhanger   0 #6 Posted December 10, 2019 Rock wool insulation when it gets really wet can cause a smell similar to urine you need to get the leak sorted and the insulation will dry  and the smell will eventually disappear
 Share this content via...
