I wasn't expressing a personal opinion, I was just pointing out that a large majority of people in the country do think that £80,000 a year makes you "rich".

Do senior NHS doctors deserve their remuneration?  Of course!  But I'd hazard a guess that there are plenty of people on £80,000+ who most people wouldn't consider to be deserving of it.

It’s called envy.

Who lives in the real world , not blinded by any old socialist cobblers Corbin comes out with.

The hatred and jealousy in this thread towards anyone who earns money is staggering.

Unless you're the deeply mistaken guy in the audiene on the first Boris/Corbyn debate, who took Corbyn to task because he genuinely thought £80,000 was 'average' pay. . .

I don’t think it is possible to be any more wrong than you are in that post.

Absolutely ridiculous.

And to think that your vote counts as much as someone who does know what’s going on.

"Labour manifesto launch: Jeremy Corbyn promises income tax will only rise for those earning above £80,000 per year"      "The Guardian " Anyone earning £80,000 or more is in the top 5% of earners in the UK. "  Financial Times, Election:  Labour manifesto shows party would raise taxes by £80bn a year.

Pettytom, as you insult me again, as usual so I have supplied the figures I have worked from, so there can be no doubt in your mind as to their authenticity. Bear in mind in a previous post I did say these taxes on the top 5% would have to be pro rata.  But regarding Corbyn's statements I stand by the post you insult me for.

Re the above, TAX WILL RISE ONLY FOR THOSE EARNING ABOVE ÂŁ80 thousand per year, the top 5% of earners, Labour manifesto.

We will RAISE TAXES BY ÂŁ80 billion per year, Labour manifesto.

So then, here are the figures, 5% of the workforce is 1600000 million. By Corbyns own words these will raise 80 billion. So 80 billion divided by 1.6million is 50000 each.

Over to you, which part of my post is "Absolutely ridiculous."

Which part of my post  would be, "I don’t think it is possible to be any more wrong than you are in that post."

And why say this, "And to think that your vote counts as much as someone who does know what’s going on."

Unless the Labour manifesto is false and untrue.

I await you reply.

But that top 5% will be anything from ÂŁ80k a year to ÂŁ80k a day. Are you factoring that in?

From my post, " Bear in mind in a previous post I did say these taxes on the top 5% would have to be pro rata. " is that what you mean tfh.

He’s not.

And he’s forgotten that borrowing money is ok.

And that we have a  whole host of companies operating here that need taxing properly.

So, all in all, his simplistic analysis is rather flawed

Are you purposefully being daft?

your “analysis” assumes the top 5% all earn £80,000.

That’s all very lovely Angel.

But also very wrong.

For a start, you seem to be claiming that the working population of the UK is 32000000 million. And yet you have the nerve to criticise Diane Abbott’s maths. Your bonkers maths does little to add to your credibility.

As for the rest of your “analysis”, did you consider that some people earn way in excess of 80k. Or that Labour are proposing an even higher tax bracket on even fatter cats? Or that we could borrow money at historically low interest rates? Or that Google, Apple, Amazon and their chums really do have to start to chip in to UK plc?

Maybe you did.

But, somehow I doubt that you bothered

I wouldn’t bother - they are away with the fairies.
