Password Guessed?

Recommended Posts

A  few months ago installed  a BT  Home Spot  to improve   the range of my broadband  signal.

It came with a wireless key and an admin password,

My Avast  protection has suddenly decided that the password is too weak and I should strengthen it as it could be hacked.

Is this true?

Because, unless every  gadget sold has the same password and key I can't see how this can be guessed.

because it's good practice to change your router password (if possible on a regular basis, every 3-6 months) - even from the standard / seemingly random one provided, purely for security reasons...

two words.....    rainbow tables.

I used to have an app that would brute force wifi passwords to see what worked and what didnt based on standard wifi passwords per ISP.  It was suprisingly good at passing them! it certainly prompted me to change all mine!
