Anna84 0 #1 Posted October 17, 2019 (edited) I have just received the keys to my new rental property in Totley Rise and moving in over the next couple of weeks. Spent a couple of hours there this morning and noticed loads of planes flying over, one every couple of mins the whole time I was there.... The background noise was pretty much constant. I'll probably get used to it but just wondering if anyone knows if this is normal for Totley? I've never lived there before and it looks like it might be a very busy flight path and I didn't realise. I'm currently in Mosborough, and it's really quiet here. Thanks in advance. Edited October 17, 2019 by Anna84
 Share this content via...
saywhatnow 33 #2 Posted October 17, 2019 I live in Totley and I like planes so find myself keeping an ear ooem. I don't hear constant background noise from planes at all, and certainly not at a level that is annoying. We get the odd lower flying helicopter and smaller propellor planes. The lowest flying passenger planes are going to/from Manchester but in my experience they are at a good enough height to not be too noisy by the time they're flying over. Anna84 0 #3 Posted October 17, 2019 (edited) OK thanks saywhatnow. Perhaps it was an unusually busy morning aircraft wise. Edited October 17, 2019 by Anna84
 Share this content via...
saywhatnow 33 #4 Posted October 17, 2019 Maybe. The only other thing I can think is that I'm at work and not in Totley during office hours, so I may miss the busy period.
 Share this content via...
jackanne 10 #5 Posted October 17, 2019 I lived there for 20 years untill recently and cannot remember low flying planes ever being a problem.
 Share this content via...
Anna84 0 #6 Posted October 17, 2019 (edited) Thanks jackanne. @saywhatnow I do work from home but if it ends up being really noisy during the day, I'll start working from a co-working space in Sheffield instead. smithy266 21 #7 Posted October 17, 2019 There was a helicopter flying to and fro across the area, I was on the Beauchief golf course. It is not really a common occurance. The planes, that is, not me playing golf.
 Share this content via...
Anna84 0 #8 Posted October 17, 2019 Ah right, maybe that's what the noise was. Sounded more like planes.
 Share this content via...
Jeffrey Shaw 83 #9 Posted October 19, 2019 Isn't there a small 'private aircraft' landing strip somewhere near there?
 Share this content via...
