Whenever I hear about the anti racism group 'Kick It Out' & their stand against racism in football & protecting players from all kinds of racism, (direct, indirect, subtle, etc), I always remember the stories of certain Israeli footballers such as Yossi Benayoun when he was playing for West Ham

I like the bits when it says the players agreed not to go with their fellow players to the training camps....like they had any choice? 

 

It was raised at the time that this was blatant racism & that the likes of West Ham could have turned down the offer but they chose not to.  Not a peep out of Kick It Out as I recall?

Do these 'red wall' tory MP's, like Lee Anderson (Ashfield) and Brendon Clark-Smith (Bassetlaw), think that normal northern British people are racist.

 

Why else would they be making the public comments about not supporting the England football team other than to endear themselves to their constituents.  Gareth Southgate has explained that its a team bonding gesture to support black players.

Racism is a by product of stupidity, I’m not stupid so don’t understand it, Most of my black and Jewish mates use their respective faiths for hatches, matches and dispatches, just like me and many others,  so what’s the big deal?

 

As for so called football supporters, I would advocate that anyone wishing to attend league matches should carry a photo ID card, with finger print and DNA, this wouldn’t cure it, but a lot of the practitioners of racism wouldn’t have the bottle to apply due to fear of being pulled for other matters.

Their victories in Mansfield and bassetlaw suggest they do. They're playing to their voters. Boris is as well - wading into Olly Robinsons suspension (proving that bringing politics into sport is OK as long as you're a bit racist).

I wondered about Johnson's intervention. He was supporting his Culture Secretary who said that people shouldn't be judged by what they said at 18. Well that's maybe a fair point.

But when you get to the age of 40s and 50s and using social media to call gay people 'tank topped bumboys' and refer to black people as 'flag waving pickaninnies with water melon smiles', the excuse of age doesn't really apply anymore....But it's okay for the PM, why not for everyone else....
