hauxwell   243 #50 Posted October 17, 2019 Instead of deserting their party if MPs don’t agree with their leader and policies they should stay and voice their opinions.  There is a few MPs in the Labour Party who don’t like Corbyn and they know they are stuck with him for now but they haven’t deserted the Party, Kate Hoey being one of them.  A Smith knows she might not get elected again in her current seat, so she has nothing to lose by changing parties.  There should be a by-election if an MP decides to leave their party.
 Share this content via...

She will be standing in Altrincham, let's hope the people there see sense and send this two faced women packing. If Angela Smith just wanted a quite life continuing to pick up her significant MP's salary, she'd not only have stayed where she was in the Labour party, she'd have spouted a load of hypocritical guff about how she now supported Brexit "because the people have spoken". But she didn`t, she took the hard route because she genuinely believes that :  1 - Brexit is a bad idea and will harm her constituents.  2 - The people voted for something (as advertised by Leave : "a cake and eat it Brexit" which avoids us being in the EU with Turkey) which they're definitely not going to get whatever happens.  These are facts. chris101 Â Â 10 #57 Posted November 7, 2019 Read today that if she is not elected in her new area she will not be entitled to the payment MPs receive when there not re elected.
 Share this content via...
mickf   10 #58 Posted November 7, 2019 That is true. It's such a shame but, perhaps, her supporters on here could crowdfund a golden farewell for her? Or she could sell off some of the perks, sorry expenses, she accrued whilst in parliament. Maybe three of the four beds she/ we bought for her/ our one bedroom flat? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/mps-expenses/5375200/MPs-expenses-New-MP-sought-four-beds-for-a-one-bedroom-London-flat.html
 Share this content via...
Ms Macbeth   72 #59 Posted November 8, 2019 (edited) Could be interesting in Altrincham. The sitting Tory MP who is up for re-election is a Leaver. He has a fairly solid majority, even though the constituency voted Remain.  https://confidentials.com/manchester/battleground-alty-constituency-could-be-an-upset-in-general-election Edited November 8, 2019 by Ms Macbeth
 Share this content via...
