Unless I've missed it there doesn't seem to have been a reply to the question as to the time this occurred.  I know a crime's a crime (and I'd cut the culprit's thieving hands off whatever the response) but it's surely of general interest re the safety (or otherwise) of the area in question.

Someone got stabbed up the bum in Highfields a few weeks ago didn't they?  I remember reading it in the Star.  You can get robbed anywhere of course, but some areas are worse than others and those areas are pretty well known to most of us as they tend to be areas where housing is cheapest and where there are  higher levels of ethnic communities.  

 

I would be very wary of walking around those areas at night.

 

Anyhow sorry to hear about what happened to this young girl and I hope that she isn't damaged by this and the guy can be brought to justice.

I've walked London Road once or twice after nights out and there are certainly a few sketchy characters that hang out down there. I wouldn't personally fancy walking down there in the dark at night. During the day there's so many shops open and such a wide variety of people walking around I doubt you'd have many issues.
