That’s what I’ve heard also.

It closed on Sunday and there was a skip

in yard today.

Years since we were in here in this neck of the Sheffield wood.  It used to be part of a nice little pub crawl between the Palm Tree, the 2 Freedoms, Florist & the one opposite the Florist, (name escapes me but a car once went through one of the walls) & Rose House.

Last time we were in the Palm Tree, & this will date the visit, it was run by a little fella who I believe was once a jockey?

If this is true (and I really hope it is), it can only be a good thing. We need to see more of these struggling local pubs taken from the hands of the greedy pubco's and run by our local breweries who actually know a thing or two about good beer, pricing, and how a good pub should be run. I also heard that Bradfield Brewery has acquired the the Wharnecliffe Arms.

It was announced on the Wisewood Facebook page yesterday...if it's half as good as the Wisewood then a really good addition to Walkley IMO.

Absolutely - felt sorry for previous landlady.

tied to high beer prices and no investment by greedy pubco.

just pleased its staying as a pub although disappointed they’re changing the name which goes back 150 years.

Crown Inn?

Nigh on 30 years since I used the Palm regularly. Given its size it has done well to survive.

When I was a student 30 years ago a few of us would venture into Walkley when it was a lot different than it is today. We'd do The Crown, Florist, Palm, both Freedoms, the Belle Vue and there was another on Walkley road, near the corner of Burgoyne St that I can't remember the name of.

Went in there a few times with the lovely old interior, before it was gutted by the last owners and finally closed :(
