Consequences Of Brexit [Part 8] Read First Post Before Posting

Vaati

Mod Note: As we are getting rather tired of seeing reports about this. The use of the word Remoaners  is to cease. Either posts like adults, or don't post at all. The mod warnings have been clear.

In addition to remoaner we are also not going to allow the use of libdums or liebore - if you cannot behave like adults and post without recourse to these childish insults then please refrain from posting. If you have a problem with this then you all know where the helpdesk is.

I'm half expecting farage to turn up at the people's vote March on Saturday. He's gone if there's a deal, no matter how awful. He was LBC banging on how the WA is only the start of negotiations. He never mentioned that before!

While plenty of us have, and for a long time indeed.

Here's another one for ye: if the deal gets voted through, the likelihood is that Johnson & friends will play the clock to end 2020 and finally get their no deal Brexit then (because technically, the HoC gets no say about the UK/EU negotiations after signing the withdrawal agreement, and the UK ceases to be an EU member state when the withdrawal agreement starts, ie already long out by the time the transition ends).

You're all being royally rodgered. Then again, I understand Johnson has form ;)

The deal will die in Parliament it absolutely will not be voted through. The SNP do not support it, neither do the DUP or Lib Dems. Labour is enforcing a three line whip against it, so any Labour MP that votes for the deal will be expelled from the party. The 21 former Tory MPs will vote against it. Johnson is -40 votes from getting a majority.

We do not live in a delegated democracy. It is absolutely correct in political and legal standpoints that the MPs do what they need to for the good of the country. No reasonable person will allow a disaster to happen if it can be avoided. You need to understand the difference between delegation and representative.

Robert Peston stated last night he thinks there is a good chance the deal will get through Parliament.  Robert Peston pointed out he always said that Theresa May's deal never had any chance the deal would get through Parliament.   There is a report this morning that Corbyn's adviser expects the deal to get through Parliament.

If the Torys can't convince or bribe the DUP for their votes its an uphill struggle to get the numbers, especially when they then require 100% of their own and some Labour behind it.

I think a backhand deal will be done, some money will be sent to Northern Ireland and it'll pass.

Isn’t it ironic that those who are saying let’s stay in the EU are now saying the deal negotiated between between the EU and UK is bad one. And yet they are happy to stay and support a group who have negotiated  such a bad deal.😂

Pretty sure plenty of Brexiteers were shouting about the deal last year.  Considering it's 95% the same thing you don't hear all that noise right now do you?

Is it simply that now Boris has slapped his name on it they're willing to back it?

They are in their own little world, everyone else is sat around thinking what a bunch of idiots they are.

Current figures say 10 or more Labour MP's are going to vote the deal through, Labour may have it as a 3-line whip but they won't remove the whip from those who rebel.

The backstop is the 5% that has been changed.  Boris has done exactly what he said he would do and got it removed.

Brexiteers like many Remainers  and the general public  are sick and tired of all the shenanigans and want our country to move on.

There are reports that over ten Labour MPs will support the agreement now.  John Mann has publicly stated he will vote for the new agreement.

Sorry just seen your comment about the Labour MPs

Brexit is nothing more than a way to attack the government.

It could be the greatest deal ever and they'd still vote against it.

Quote

At 10.51am yesterday, Mr Corbyn was asked for his view - and revealed that his party would not be supporting Mr Johnson's withdrawal agreement.

But the actual legal text of the deal was not published until 11.17am - well after Mr Corbyn had dismissed it out of hand

Hook, line and sinker.

The ERG are supporting the deal because it gets them their hard Brexit next year, by cancelling out the option of withdrawing Art.50.

The DUP won’t change their opposition to the deal unless Boris rows back on the border in the Irish Sea, like they made May do it last year.
