Consequences Of Brexit [Part 8] Read First Post Before Posting

Vaati

Mod Note: As we are getting rather tired of seeing reports about this. The use of the word Remoaners  is to cease. Either posts like adults, or don't post at all. The mod warnings have been clear.

In addition to remoaner we are also not going to allow the use of libdums or liebore - if you cannot behave like adults and post without recourse to these childish insults then please refrain from posting. If you have a problem with this then you all know where the helpdesk is.

It’s a trope of the right to paint the pro-Tory, pro-monarchy, pro Church of England, socially conservative and sycophantic BBC as ‘the lefty BBC’. 😂

And it's a trope of the left to claim the BBC is 'pro Tory', which probably means it does a pretty good job of remaining politically neutral.

Well now there are a lot of centrists saying it has lurched very far to the right, and they used to argue it was neutral.

And there a lot of people saying it is leaning far to the left...I think it's pretty clear to anyone with eyes and ears that neither is true.

Brexiteers  Farage and Boris agree that air will still be available, and free to breathe after October the 31st.

Remoaners categorically state,  that info is in fact incorrect, there will be no air to breathe after we crash out, fall off the cliff edge and and a dozen more catastrophic scenarios of leaving the EU. But add, if by some chance there is air, it will be charged for, plus vat of course, another consequence of leaving the EU.  It's getting really scary now. 🤣🤣🤣

How the worlds press see us currently

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-49689123

I like the Canadian view :P

Quote

For Canada's Globe and Mail, "British politics today is what results from the collision of an unstoppable force, an immovable object and a clown car."

It says the unstoppable force is the dominant no-deal faction of the Conservative Party. "The immovable object is reality - the reality that a no-deal Brexit will play havoc with the economy and hurt real people; the reality that a majority of parliament and the people will not back it... And the clown car is Mr Johnson."

funnily enough seems the Iranian view is EXACTLY the same as the right wing brextremists view :O

Quote

Iranian hardline paper Resalat says the authorities are scheming to "overturn" the result of the 2016 vote, and a second referendum would "raise serious questions about democracy in Britain and Europe".

and maybe theres project fear in the whole world as a lot of it is doom and gloom reckoning we are tearing everything good about us...apart

I think it's pretty clear to anyone who uses their eyes and ears as well as their brain that the bias is evident. Subtle, but evident. Particularly around Brexit where the requirement to provide "balance" means that the likes of Rees Mogg, Mark Francois, Farage and Tim Martin receive far more of a platform than their extremist views merit. Ditto Yaxley Lennon.

Views different to yours aren't evidence of bias. You said it yourself - balance.

Remind me, how many times has Farage been on Question Time?

A lot fewer than Ken Clarke, and just more than Menzies Campbell. And?

Interesting, thanks. The problem the BBC has its that the equal weighting for remain and leave doesn't work well with Brexit. There is a consensus that Brexit will be economically damaging and the real argument  is about the extent of the damage. But to provide 'balance'

the pro-Brexit minority of economists are given equal footing with the anti-Brexit majority.

It's the same reason that climate change unbelievers/ crackpots were given undue weighting until recently, when there was a change in policy based on evidence.

My problem with the BBC and their "balance" is that it's not critical enough of answers given. Sometimes the answer given is utter horse **** but too often the interviewer  - with a few exceptions - just rolls on to the next question. That isn't balance.
