Consequences Of Brexit [Part 8] Read First Post Before Posting

Vaati

Mod Note: As we are getting rather tired of seeing reports about this. The use of the word Remoaners  is to cease. Either posts like adults, or don't post at all. The mod warnings have been clear.

In addition to remoaner we are also not going to allow the use of libdums or liebore - if you cannot behave like adults and post without recourse to these childish insults then please refrain from posting. If you have a problem with this then you all know where the helpdesk is.

I doubt it.

Have you looked at the twitter accounts he is quoting from?

Complete conspiracy alt-right nut jobs who seem to be using Brexit hysteria as clickbait for their twitter accounts.

You missed a bit. It seems that Boris isn’t so averse to the undemocratic backstop after all

We don't know  after the next General Election  whether the Tory Party will have a majority in Parliament without needing the support of the DUP.  A General Election before the EU summit would have told us whether their support is needed.  Alterations to the Backstop, in it applying just to Northern Ireland are more likely to get through Parliament if the DUP are no longer required to support the Tory Party to govern after the next General Election.  If that scenario occurred then a referendum could be offered to just the people of Northern Ireland asking  if they wanted either a backstop or a hard border.

Brexit doesn't meet any of the criteria in the Act.

An interesting read.  Those posters mocking Boris by saying Parliament have taken away his powers should prepare themselves for a surprise.

I'm sure he'll come up with a Daily Mail source soon or possibly a Daily Express one, might be behind the warning for the worst winter in history though. I've got October the 15th on the work (well, now ex-work 😐)  sweepstake on the Express warning, 50 quid in it :)

Early one this year!

Ah Dr Sean Gabb. That well known authority.

Let’s see shall we. I say that Johnson doesn’t have the bottle to declare an emergency. Mostly because he’ll lose most of his remaining senior support, including his attorney general if he does.

Get ready for a slightly watered down version of May’s deal. It is the only way out. Even no deal leads to May’s deal in the end. He’s in Ireland at the moment making just those noises.

Theresa May’s deal, or no Brexit. Take your pick.

No need.

In 1998 the Irish people North and South voted overwhelmingly against a hard border which is why the backstop is a legal necessity to protect it.

What is to stop Boris from proposing a Northern Ireland only backstop? This was the EU's original proposal and so we know it would be accepted by the EU.

The reason why Mrs May had to change it to a UK wide backstop was because she was reliant on the 10 DUP MPs to get a majority, and the DUP would be furious by such an arrangement. Boris has already lost his majority, and we know a general election is coming and so he isn't really reliant on DUP support anymore...

Exactly correct.

It would confirm that the Northern Irish people are happy with the Backstop until alternative technical solutions are mutually agreed.
