Have you lived there? In my 12 years there I witnessed a high increase in immigrant families, particularly in the maisonettes at the top and bottom of Gleadless road. The crime rose considerably too, you can't blame people for making the assumption. I was told before I was born is used to be a very nice area.

If you've got some savings it might be worth looking at buying a place as it's about the same in terms of rental you'd be paying anyway.
