Your (Fan) Motor Knowledge, Please!

Pub-type drinks chiller, knocking on a bit but we like it.

Fan motor bearing (?) absolutely shot, and wails like a banshee.

Got the unit off, to find "Mycalex made in UK" embossed on the housing, in which the fan motor sits.

A sticker on the housing states "K2.06.002 240V 50HZ CLASS F", which powers a 4" diameter fan.

The 240V and 50HZ are self-explanatory, but the rest?

I'd like to replace the motor and fan with something suitable so we can get the unit up and running again, but don't know how to pick a suitable replacement.

Do you?!

Mycalex stuff seems to be used in Boilers, have you taken the fan down to Plumbase or similar to see if they recognise the part number?

Hi,

 

Take the motor and fan blade off ( even the bracket if possible) and take it to: -

 

HRP Ltd 2, Brightside, 443 Brightside Ln, Sheffield S9 2RS

 

They should be able to sell you a replacement aftermarket motor 

 

Either them or take it to : -

 

Parts Centre 3, Coleford Road Business Center, Coleford Rd, Sheffield S9 5NF

 

The motors on most fridges / chillers are usually Sealed for life and not possible to be rebuilt.

Yes, the whole motor, fan and Mycalex block is now off, but (still) as one unit.

It's certainly a well-built little beast, and having a better look at it, I think you're correct about it being a sealed job.

Looks like a trip down to Sheffield 9 coming up...

Updated...

Decided to ring HRP before travelling. Had trouble explaining what a drinks chiller/cooler was to the receptionist, before she decided that they wouldn't be able to help.

Next call was Parts Centre as was - (Wolseley's now) - and same result.

Hi You need to see the guys on the trade counter not the girl answering the phone. 

 

I work in refrigeration and most of the time we can source a motor / fan assembly without having the exact motor type just with pattern parts. 

 

It's worth a try walking into the counter and asking, and Parts centre isn't that far away if they can't help you.
