Blades V Palace

Recommended Posts

Well this is supposed to be an easier one it just shows you how tough this league is.Palace last year were really good away from home getting the majority of points they won away from London. This is a good test for us and will give us some idea about how we will frame in the top flight and what we can expect from our team come next May.To be still in the Prem next year we do need to pick up our points at home against teams like Palace ,it will not be easy because there are no easy games in this league it must be the toughest one in the world but we have one of the best managers in the world imo it is money we are short of compared to other clubs who are in there.

Home advantage may go for them.

Looking forward to it but let's face it, this is one of those games we have to win, (& fans expect a win), even at this stage of the season to avoid a scrap at the end of the season.

Never believed in the phrase, "It's a marathon not a sprint.".   Remember the last time we were in the Premiership & really only need a few points that would have virtually guaranteed safety, with about 10 games left?  Games that should have been won but drawn; games that looked certain draws ended up being lost with Warnock repeating the mantra, "Don't worry there's 9 games left... there's 8 games left..." etc.

Palace have some good individuals but are not so great as a collective team, United need to win games like this and will.

2-1

Need some points in the bag early in the season while we still have the winning mentality carried over from last season. We are more than capable against such teams as Palace the real test are yet to come .The Xmas holiday looks really tough but so what if we have points in the bag all well and good .I am not saying Palace will be easy it won't be but we need to exploit these type of teams even though their away record last year was so impressive .They got more points away from home than at home which makes them dangerous but all matches in the prem are tough but at home so are we.Should be a good match.

Brilliant performance and result. Palace barely had a sniff all game. We were easily the better team.  Wilder gets it right tactically again.

Outstanding start to the season.

Great game, (because we pulled it off but we did deserve it), anyone have any idea as to why there were 7 mins extra time?

Also heard in the pub after the game that Zaha has aledgely spat in Baldock's face but the officials didn't spot it?

Zaha  had a shocker for them.  Didn't look as though he wanted to play for them today & when he went over to the Palace supporters at f/t all he got was boos & v-signs for his trouble.

It was a great result and Boldock had Zaha in his pocket as for 7 mins extra time it is the prem league you can expect anything .No VAR hold ups and not many stoppages either but as before in the prem when it involves the Blades you expect it.What also had me thinking was the card for our center back after just ten mins for and which was the first foul in the match and that was hardly anything.Anyway a good start to the season up to now.

The man is a genius how many fans thought Lundstram would be playing such a big part for us this year?Well as usual Wilder saw something no one else did in him .He is now the most successful manager results wise in the league apart from the Man City manager in the last three years. No wonder his peers voted him the best.As for the game I can not think of our goalie being troubled he could have pulled up a deck chair I thought Boldock and Basham had their guys all tied up they were no threat at all. To think Celtic wanted to buy Boldock for  COUPLE OF MILL you must be joking.

Hendo had nothing to do all game, he must have been astonished/bored. An easy cruise of a win. Lundstram is a revelation. Where’s he been for three years ?

Norwood looks to have made the step up really easily despite some concerns.

Bash seems to make fewer errors.

McGoldrick looks as comfortable at this level as he did last season although he should have scored in both games to date.

Starting to wonder what the point of all those new signings was.

The back line of O’Connell, Egan, Stevens, Baldock, Bash looks very good.

Hope Fleck is ok ?

Luke Freeman best man today for me, or Enda Stevens ? Baldock ?

I’m pretty sure that it’s not John Lundstram, no one could improve that much. A doppelgänger

Let's enjoy this one but I'm expecting a bit more fight from Leicester.

Apparently Wilder is now some kind of football genius.  https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/aug/18/sheffield-united-crystal-palace-premier-league-match-report

Long may it continue.   Due credit should also be given to Knill in all the achievements as well. He's played a big part in our recent success.

At least the BBC have changed their report headline from earlier.  Apparently we only won because we were playing a 'Lacklustre' Palace.  We can only play what's in front of us.
