Dvla Have Deferred My Licence

Recommended Posts

Can you believe this ?

I recently applied on line to renew my licence, I will be 73 in September.

Unfortunately I ticked a wrong box ( Yes, I am a plonker ) and received a letter almost immediately telling me that after 50 years I could no longer drive !!

Numerous tele calls and e mails to the DVLA have got me no further

I have had to re apply

Being without a driving licence is a serious obstruction to my life style

No comments please about walking, cycling and using public transport as I do all 3 !!

Your comments please, good, bad and indifferent

Surely this rules out 98.7% of potential responders? :hihi:

(I did though!)

;)

I'll offer my opinion, but sadly no advice...

1. I find in general the DVLA site is quite simple, and easy to use

however,

2. If you have an issue, it's bleedin useless... ring this number... the number tells you to go online, and soon spirals into one of these now common endless circles of nonsense.

so you have my sympathy.

Hmmm...

It's just a wild guess here but...

... reading the first post it looks to me like it was the 'Are you a plonker?' box.

Maybe the question of “Have you ever committed mass genocide?” on the US visa waiver application does actually catch people out then too.

The OP came on here for help, not to be ridiculed for making a  mistake.

It might be worth giving Age UK a ring on 0800 678 1602.   Other people must have made similar mistakes.  I hope you get things sorted soon,

C'mon man, even the OP must have at least smiled at Mr. Bloke's post. I am sure he will get the appropriate solution to his dilemma soon enough. After all, it is only a typo , when all said and done and we all know how government depts get their knickers twisted in these kinds of scenarios. 🙃

No,  if you read the post again the OP isn't asking for help.

He asks for comments ....    good, bad or indifferent.

So you send them a notice in which you told them (rightly or wrongly) that you were unfit to hold a licence and now seem flabbergasted that they immediately took action on that information?

Frankly I say good on the DVSA for reacting swiftly.

Furthermore I guess the reason for the reluctance in simply reinstating said licence comes from past history where people have stated they're unfit because they are but then realised they could have lied and kept their licence.
