Ixquick Is Now Startpage!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, My index page on my website is constructed to comply with EU regulations on Cookies which offers visitors to Accept that a cookie will be placed on their machine or Reject if they don't want to enter the site. Originally I had set the reject button to take visitors to ixquick.co.uk - this has now changed to:

https://www.startpage.com/

What I can't understand is is that they are (from the blurb) paying Google to use their search engine without the garbage - which begs the question - who is paying Google and how are they benefitting in the long-run? I've never heard of anyone giving something they have paid for without some reimbursement to cover the costs? Perhaps their development of other products is going to be the way forward - might have to redirect to 'DuckDuckGo' instead.

Think I'll change it to DuckDuckGo but thanks for the suggestions.

There is a lengthy article comparing DDG and Startpage on the following link:

If using Firefox as your browser you may want to consider enabling DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH). [I have and have not had any issues, I used method 1 as described in the article].

Info on the following link:
