Because Syria aren't in the EU so are not subject to their sanctions.

It's like me and Banjodeano banning you from having a mobile phone and then mugging you of it if we saw you in the street.

If the tanker had stayed in international waters which it could have it could have carried on its way but when it entered Gibraltar’s it was seized. This is contrary to what the Iranians have done by seizing these two ships in international waters which is against maritime law.

The UK was always highly respected prior to Brexit, this country is now in meltdown because of it.

Got to disagree on this one. I don't think the UK has been an influence since the 1950s, although those  down in Westminster may like to think so.

America are always wanting to up the ante, they are always looking for ways to cause trouble with other countries, too much money is made selling weapons, as the American lapdog, we always follow suit unfortunately

The great pity is the Americans have a couple of poodle states that are prepared to do their bidding.

It was protected by a comcept called Transit Waters.  It is difficult to pass by Gibraltar without entering international waters.

Looking at this objectively, we have started this.

We have a seat on the UN Security Council.  We are one of the most influential nations on the planet.

You can pass through the straights of Gibraltar without entering and stay in international waters.

We have not started the trouble.  Iran started the trouble when they attempted to defy International  sanctions which is  why the Iranian tanker was seized at Gibraltar.

The tanker in question was taking oil to Syria against EU sanctions. When it entered Gibraltar’s waters it was impounded for breaking these. So why should we apologise for acting on EU rules?

They had a maritime Lawyer on the wireless last evening while discussing the impounded tanker. Apparently the EU have no authority to issue this, therefore we have done wrong, admit it, give it back and move on seems to be the way out.

What right do the EU and America (mainly America) have to impose sanctions?

You understand how disgusting that is right?

You do understand that Iran is a rogue state?   It was disgusting when the Iranian students were allowed to take over the American Embassy in Iran and take hostages in 1979 which brought about the first sanctions against Iran by America.  Do you think America should have declared war on Iran instead of imposing sanctions?

That depends on how you define a rogue state.

If you define it by the number of UN resolutions passed against it then Israel would be the world’s  #1 rogue state. In reality there are no rogue states, just states that you either support or you don’t and everyone has a different view.

In fact I would argue that there is only one real rogue state in today’s world and that is Bolsonaro’s Brazil. If he succeeds in his aim of selling off the Amazonian rain forests, that could eventually kill more people that all today’s wars put together.
