There have been many 'failed Cowley's.'

 

Paul Heckingbottom did well at Barnsley but failed at Leeds. Paul Hirst did well at Shrewsbury but it didn't work at Ipswich. Nathan Jones is struggling at Stoke after doing a good job at Luton.

 

......but then you get Chris Wilder.

Cowley's might have come in and done well, Monk might come in and we plummet, nobody knows

 

One things for sure.... If Cowley beats us on Sunday there'll be folk saying we made the wrong choice after 1 game !

Was a time,before the Premier League,ALL our top flight managers came from lower league clubs,and players that could make the transition followed them,Wilder has bucked the trend of foreign managers and players,long may it continue,theres  so much untapped british talent struggling for recognition they move abroad for game time.

Using the old George Burley system that was a success at Ipswich has served him well

GBs side were renown for their overlapping centre backs and sweeper keeper during the 80s was it? @ the time it was very different and noboddy else played that way,probably a bit before Solksjaers memories of english football

Reading between the lines Jim it looks like the approach did happen but for whatever reason it didn’t work out .
