To get back to the original question, the Cenotaph is the responsibility of The British Legion and they chose not to put a flag up. They have protocols governing when flags can be raised and anniversaries are not included.
 Share this content via...

Indoctrinating people into risking their lives in rich mens wars and calling it "remembrance" and "patriotism" . The rich and the privileged get richer and more privileged whilst the commoner has to send their kids to die. Sounds like a bad deal to me. Yeh! Â There was a good article on overblown commemorations in yesterday's Guardian: Â Yes indeed Hitler being forced use a ton of men and munitions on both the Eastern front and in Italy was key to the success of June 6th 1944. Had those two fronts not existed Hitler's Atlantic sea wall would have been much more heavily defended and DDay would have been called off. Worse still it might have gone ahead and we would likely have had another Dunkirk with thousands of allied troops trapped on the beaches, unable to establish beacheads. 3 hours ago, InigoMontoya said: Because it isn't a flagpole? Good answer, wreaths are laid at cenotaphs not flags raised. Edited June 7, 2019 by Ontarian1981
 Share this content via...
prince al   177 #30 Posted June 7, 2019 I doubt if this is a deliberate act of treason, more like an error. Highly embarrassing  even so.
 Share this content via...
Pettytom   1 #31 Posted June 7, 2019 What a load of old nonsense. This is just The Star stirring trouble as usual.  There is a Normandy Memorial in Weston Park, that’s where the memorial service happened. It shouldn’t take too much thought to work out why.  There’s another service and s flypast on Saturday in Norfolk Park.  Maybe some of the moaners could attend that, instead of moaning. The centenary was significant and had to be commemorated, but apart from that the first world war has dipped down now as there is virtually no one left that lived through it that was old enough to remember it. The second world war however is still part of the elderly generations consciousness.
 Share this content via...
