Nothing new, distraction thefts have always happened in city centre, the same as in other towns and cities. Might be occasional spikes due to prolific individuals being released from prison or an organised mob passing through.

theres been at least 2 problems of this sort at st james retail park inc a friend who lost her purse by this type of crime

Johnny Foreigner tried pickpocketing me. I was at an address in Page Hall in my professional capacity and felt something move in my jacket pocket. 

 

I looked down and an individuals hand was trying to liberate my phone. 

 

I’m an Ambulanceman and was dealing with a lady in labour and yet I’m “fair game”?

These days....a lot of folks are way too busy on their phones. It's a fantastic distraction for a would be thieve.

 

I see it |Every day|...Folks going up the Escalators in ASDA..Glued to their phones...Not a care about their Handbag and purse..!!!

 

Crazy sign of the times or just carelessness?
