India look a complete package but the Aussies are starting to build up a head of steam. We really need to spank them in the group match. Fourth spot is anybody’s.  A word about reserve days, we need to use them! The last couple of years have been roasting at this time of year so you can’t blame the icc for thinking it should be dry. That said, we should ensure we are getting as many matches played as possible, and if that means using reserve days or whatever it should be done, England - if nothing else - has the infrastructure in place. Up till today, Sri Lanka were fourth and had won one. Yeah your spot on there,re scedule lost games for the following day,or as you say plan in reserve days, english summers are always unpredictable......... Only caught the backend and brief highlites of the much awaited Ind v Pak match,an amazing 400.000 requests for tickets for this game,India once more looked a class above their opponents in ALL departments,Pakistan did threaten briefly to make a game of it but once Fakhar and Babar went they crumbled,Rohit once more showed stunning batting skills. Ive tickets for old trafford on tuesday as day off work, just hoping manchesters weather is kind to us,not expecting to see Roy bat, possibly even no Morgan, both could be rested to give them a chance to get fit again. Must say Ive enjoyed all the games Ive seen so far
 Share this content via...
staninoodle   175 #14 Posted June 18, 2019 Well what a treat today was,Morgan injected some much needed urgency into the scoring ,what an innings that was, could have ended different if it wasnt for some sloppy fielding right infront of where we were seated, but thereafter, faultless,I lost count of the 6s,was it 33? Shame that Bairstow and Root didnt make 3 figures and a superb cameo by Mo right at the death,9 balls and 30 odd runs,AFG were sloppy in the field. They came back well with the bat,I was pretty impressed gave it real go but always well behind the rate from the off. Great days entertainment, slight concern over Root who seemed to struggle with a back problem,Vince will never replace Hales, hes way off,if Roy is struggling,we need Alex Hales if were serious about winning this. Thought we bowled well within our capabilities.
 Share this content via...
tinfoilhat   11 #15 Posted June 19, 2019 Still hoping Roy will be back, but Moeens form is good to see, good to see Rashid among to wickets again. It's pleasing that the runs are being spread around the whole top order - we aren't reliant on one or two.
 Share this content via...

staninoodle   175 #17 Posted June 22, 2019 Two close games today, afghanistan took india all the way in a tense game that Ind looked destined to lose at one point, followed by an equally tense game up at old trafford, which went to the final over WI gave NZ a real test,Kane Williamson once more showed his class, what a player he is,but Brathwaite got WI so close,a whisker away from what looked an unlikely victory late on,thrilling stuff today
 Share this content via...
tinfoilhat   11 #18 Posted June 25, 2019 We may need two wins from 3 against the Aussies, India and NZ. Based on this morning's play I don't see that happening.
 Share this content via...

Pettytom   1 #20 Posted June 25, 2019 Losing Roy looks to be terminal for England’s chances.  Not only has he been replaced by the hapless Vince, it has also affected the bowling. With Vince in the side, Moeen has to play, to shore up the batting. So Plunkett has missed out. We’ve had to leave out the most successful middle overs bowler in world cricket, all because we can’t trust one of the openers.  Bairstow batting like a brain donor hasn’t helped either. staninoodle   175 #21 Posted June 25, 2019 Thought we bowled a touch short, missed Roy,Hales and omitted Plunkett. Once Root went, youd expect Morgan to just nudge it around, see off Starc and Cummins, and wait for Lyons and Maxwell & Stoinis to come on,weve mastered our own downfall in two games and its going to be a struggle to make the semis from here
 Share this content via...
staninoodle   175 #22 Posted June 29, 2019 Once more today gave us some quality cricket,NZ showed us how we should have bowled to Oz,pitched it up and held their chances, the Afg v Pak game was brilliant and untill the last 5 overs it looked as though Afghanistan were going to pull off a major shock and help out the hapless eglish side, but fell just short in a tense final over, brilliant advert for the game. Tomorrows a big day for an England side thats yet to impose itself on its own tournament,India look every inch the best side at this world cup,but not infalable and were made to work hard v Afghanistan and eeked out a tough win. tinfoilhat   11 #24 Posted July 3, 2019 Batting first makes a huge difference for us - for a few sides really. I'd hate to see the world cup won on the toss of a coin.  Unless England win it!
 Share this content via...
