Apparently loud noises were heard, possibly plates and glasses being smashed.

Sounds like a very explosive argument.

Actually not according the BBC’s review here, the express has piled in a bit. Telegraph has backed their boy though.

Does nobody here ever have arguments with their partners? It's pretty standard in homes up and down the country.
