British Steel Limited was formed in 2016 - 3 Years after Margaret Thather died and 26 years after she was in power. 

 

How much longer are dinosaur industries and luddite employees who fail to  evolve going to keep blaming the government for their own failures.

 

Tata Steel saw the signs.   They saw the way the world was moving .  The saw the way us consumers were demanding cheaper and cheaper goods which in turn meant a search for cheaper and cheaper raw materials.

 

Its business.   You adapt or you die.

 

I see Labour's latest election gimmick is "nationalise".   What with Corbyn?    Brass Washers?    What exactly is the moron going to do with all this steel production that nobody wants and prices that nobody is prepared to pay. 

 

The days of mass production are gone in this country.   Small, specialised, bespoke is the future.   I say again, you adapt or die.

Your view is already being enacted upon. Scunthorpe is not considered to be nationally strategic. 

 

Meanwhile, Sheffield Forgemasters is and has been financially supported. 

 

Therefore, Scunthorpe should be allowed to collapse. It is of no national value.

We should do something to keep them going, be their guarantor perhaps; failing that, do what the last owner of British Steel did and allow them to go bust and buy it for £1

British Steel in state ownership, Corbyn will be jealous, it will cost him way more than £1 for the National Grid.

Sheffield Forgemasters has had a loan agreement brokered by the government with Rolls-Royce, Babcocks and BAEs underwriting the loan from US bank Wells Fargo. 

 

Scunthorpe will not get this treatment.

So the deal has only been brokered (arranged) by the government but it has not received any money from the government then?

No as the government have not given Forgemaster any money and yet have given British Steel a loan to help save it and has also given monetary support in the past.

Dont think its collapse has been announced yet! Just correcting your post that seems to imply that Forgemasters were given aid by the government when the deal was just brokered by them, and that British Steel has been given a £100m loan and is far from the "the government isn’t even putting its name to save Scunthorpe" jibe.
