Should remission on jail sentences be scrapped ?

Recommended Posts

Speaking of punishment.......

i cannot for the life of me fathom what was going through these halfwits minds. Doubt they’ll see any jail if and when convicted. There’s no huge monetary value involved really, nobody was hurt. But the emotional damage, I hope, needs to taken into consideration.

Should remission be scrapped and prisoners serve their full sentence ?

Yes. simple as that .

Behave and you will be released after you have served your full sentence . Any bad behaviour results in extra time added to your full sentence.

If a prisoner knows that they have to serve the full sentence, does the prison service have any alternative bargaining chips to ensure good behaviour?

Yes. If the Lags behave , they dont get time added to their sentence. Simple really.

Which is almost exactly what we have now, if you think hard enough about it.

The stupidity is that it is virtually guaranteed the people who suffer often are those who are innocent and therefore unwilling to say they were guilty and how sorry they are and that they will never do anything bad again

The press could do better in reporting sentences don't you just love the headlines like  "gang sentenced to 80 years" when in fact members may only have got 3 or 4 years which of course is only half that
