Antisemitism

Interesting to see Corbyn deleting his old tweets about Wiley yesterday.  He'd have been better leaving them and just making a statement.

The OP started the thread with a link to Jeremy Corbyn!

The only claim of antisemitism I have recently seen in the news has involved the Labour party, I think it is political, to discredit the Labour party.

I do think it's rather off to be told by a moderator to not make this political, and then as you say they allow a political post from the the very first  opening post, moderator?

It’s ok. Wiley has apologised now. Strange way to do it though, by being even more anti Semitic.

Why not find out for yourself and you might rethink that earlier post.

He's one of the early exponents of grime and so has been releasing music since the early 00s, along with the streets and dizzee rascal

Wiley does need help but he's a symptom, not a cause. We're all individuals who can look at ourselves and how we approach life. We can try to make things better or we can blame everyone else that something isn't right.

However misguided we might be, once we have new information it's up to us to change our own view and maybe those around us. Anti-antisemitism can grow just as fast as antisemitism if we want it to be so. The more of us that treat people as individuals, full of foibles, faults and fantasticity, the better we will all be in the long run.

I'm sorry Tony, but you dont practice what you preach, as i pointed out a few posts back you stated...... "  I hope we'll agree that the  Corbyn acolytes are pretty high up on the antisemitism scale".....

Isnt that all against what you are preaching? you say that we should treat people as individuals, how is that treating people as individuals when you have lumped a group of say around 300, to 400, 000 socialists who you refer to as Corbyn Acolytes??

That is not treating people as individuals, you have classed the whole bunch as Antisemites...

personally i dont give a monkeys about religion, i dont care in the least whether someone is C of E, Catholic, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, or Jedism,  i really dont, it matters not to me, and i have no hate to any of those groups of people,  i take each person as i find them, but i am guessing that you lumping a group of people together like you did dont hold those views, I dont have a problem with religion but i do have a problem with a foreign state trying to influence our democracy,  a foreign state not a religion...i really admire your passion Tony on what you are trying to do, i really do, but i feel you are quite misguided.

It is impossible to discuss individuals unless one is being engaged so in this discussion you have been treated as an individual. At the risk of you taking offence, and I hope you won/t, have you stopped being antisemitic and gaslighting in the light of the new information in this topic? Rather than just bawling you out and calling you names - like that protest in the OP -  a few people here have tried to give you and others a greater understanding through discussion and information.  Ultimately it will be your decision whether or not you turn the corner but you need to know that when the mirror is held up that everyone can see the reflection, not just you.

Posted elsewhere in case it was missed

This is the accepted IHRA working definition of antisemitism that could help anyone who has antisemitic tendencies.

“Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.”

Here are some examples of day to day antisemitism at work.

Contemporary examples of antisemitism in public life, the media, schools, the workplace, and in the religious sphere could, taking into account the overall context, include, but are not limited to:

  • Calling for, aiding, or justifying the killing or harming of Jews in the name of a radical ideology or an extremist view of religion.
  • Making mendacious, dehumanizing, demonizing, or stereotypical allegations about Jews as such or the power of Jews as collective — such as, especially but not exclusively, the myth about a world Jewish conspiracy or of Jews controlling the media, economy, government or other societal institutions.
  • Accusing Jews as a people of being responsible for real or imagined wrongdoing committed by a single Jewish person or group, or even for acts committed by non-Jews.
  • Denying the fact, scope, mechanisms (e.g. gas chambers) or intentionality of the genocide of the Jewish people at the hands of National Socialist Germany and its supporters and accomplices during World War II (the Holocaust).
  • Accusing the Jews as a people, or Israel as a state, of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust.
  • Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations.
  • Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.
  • Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.
  • Using the symbols and images associated with classic antisemitism (e.g., claims of Jews killing Jesus or blood libel) to characterize Israel or Israelis.
  • Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.
  • Holding Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel.

Criticism of Israel does not make anyone antisemitic, as much as you would like to be true...

So have you changed your mind on whether 300 to 400,000 socialist supporters are antisemitc, or do you still believe that?
