Very Very funny man , in his early years, saw him at the Fiesta and never laughed so much, I liked his Hitler impersonations , Sadly he got less and less funny as the years passed by, till eventually I just found him rubbish.

 I saw him at Blackpool in his early days and yes he was funny, also on the ITV show The Comedians. Don't know much about his later life as I have been o'er here for lots of years. Rip Freddie and " Thank You Very Much"

Apart from seeing him a couple of times at the Fiesta, I saw him in Yarmouth doing an impression of Norman Wisdom and Norman walked on stage behind him. Very funny.

Must just be me, but, I never got him. Never found him funny in the slightest.

He always seemed to be trying to force a laugh, and came across as trying to hard.

Saw him live a couple of times. First time genius, the second time his act was cheap and littered with unnecessary four letter expletives.  I remember this performance from half a century ago, when it was more topical and relevant.

Freddie Starr was one of the comedy staples in our house when I was growing up. Some aspects of his act got a little corny in the latter years but it was all harmless fun. The snowflakes of today probably won't like him but he was a product of his time.

 

Another working class hero gone. RIP.
