The Brexit Party thread. All brexit party discussion here please.

A couple of points for you to take note of.

We expect it to remain civil and within our usual forum rules.

As this is about an election the following will apply

Here at SF we try to ensure fair play, and that includes during elections. We don't allow links direct to political party websites or to sites that spread spurious stories for political influence at any time, and that will continue. We also ask candidates and those campaigning for political parties to follow our code of conduct in the run up to elections. In order to not provide any influence unfairly to any side, we ask that those who are standing or who represent a party refrain from posting in threads to do with political discussion or elections during the 4 week run up to the vote.

It's  mandatory and your account will be suspended if you don't do it.

If you have any questions please take them to the helpdesk rather than starting threads attacking the forum team. If you do that then your account will be suspended.

You are starting to use some quite spectacular mental gymnastics now to defend your boy.

My boy! Once again you have not taken notice of my past replies on the "boy" as I cant stand the man. What I have been pointing out is what he said and not what people want to believe he said and that makes a vast difference to the context with regards to the NHS.. I also wonder just how many of the well off well educated elite on here also pay for or have private health plans and are happy to pay for them despite having a NHS.

What an amazing  amount of denial.

Voting for Brexit doesn’t make you responsible for the mess it causes.

£66bn missing from the economy doesn’t make us poorer as a country.

Farage advocating the privatisation of the NHS, isn’t him advocating the privatisation of the NHS.

Do any leave voters have options on Santa, or the Tooth Fairy?

Couldn’t be clearer could it. The bit missing from the poster is where he talks about the health system being run by private companies.

The easiest thing would be for TBP to actually have a position on the NHS, like in a manifesto or set of policies.

They don’t have any of that so it’s entirely reasonable to go on what Farage has said in the past.

That is exactly what Andrew Marr said a couple of Sundays ago when Farage complained about Marr quoting ludicrous things he has said in the past.

There is nothing wrong with the principle of an insurance based system of healthcare. France has one, and is often quoted as being the best healthcare in the world.

It is how that insurance system is managed, and whether it is not for profit (which the French system is) that matters.

Of course there is. People without insurance don't get it. Do you not see that?

In theory we already have one through National Insurance.

The difference with private insurance is the money goes straight to private schemes and not the government.

The other big difference can be variable levels of care fully baked into the system, and that becomes a massive problem when the default level is no care or emergency only care. Farage is rather fond of the USA and it is nailed on that system is what he will promote.

No. It is perfectly possible to have universal health care and an insurance based system. Look at France.

France has compulsory national heath insurance, which is taken out of people's salary (much like our National Insurance). The government provides healthcare to people who are not covered by the mandatory insurance programs (those who have never worked).

The US spends more on healthcare than any other country in the world yet has some of the worst healthcare of any country in the developed world. This means that it is either highly inefficient or a lot of that money is going into the pockets of shareholders.

Trump tried to demonise the NHS as a 'socialist' organisation because there is no direct profit to be made, which to him and most americans is a crazy idea.
