Euro Elections

mort

This thread has been reviewed and returned to the main forum.

A couple of points for you to take note of.

We expect it to remain civil and within our usual forum rules.

As this is about an election the following will apply

Here at SF we try to ensure fair play, and that includes during elections. We don't allow links direct to political party websites or to sites that spread spurious stories for political influence at any time, and that will continue. We also ask candidates and those campaigning for political parties to follow our code of conduct in the run up to elections. In order to not provide any influence unfairly to any side, we ask that those who are standing or who represent a party refrain from posting in threads to do with political discussion or elections during the 4 week run up to the vote.

It's  mandatory and your account will be suspended if you don't do it.

If you have any questions please take them to the helpdesk rather than starting threads attacking the forum team. If you do that then your account will be suspended.

Because in the UK, as a UK citizen and resident, my vote should count and those of people not living here should not. It's simple really. We never voted to join a superstate with heavily diluted democratic representation.

No, the position can only count at the time of the election, obviously.

You're trying to split the leave vote. The Tories stand for leave, whether it's hard or soft, that is their position. Trying to apportion a percentage of their vote to Remain is desperate.

The leave vote is split in the Tory Party

You have the ERG MPs who want a hard Brexit, and a whole load more who favour a soft Brexit. And plenty who want no Brexit.

That is the reality

Norwich city didn't win the championship

Because Ipswich, Bolton and Rotherham United gain more points if you added up all their points

Same goes for Manchester City and the premier league, Man United and Crystal Palace gained more points if you added their points together

Lewis Hamilton didn’t really win last year’s F1 Championship because if you tot up all the other drivers’ points they are greater than the points that Hamilton won. 🏁

You don't really understand this 'EU' thing, how it works, and how it's been working for the past few decades, do you?

*There* is why Brexit happened: too many taken in by the lies and misrepresentations hook, line and sinker, without spending the minutest of time reflecting about what tge EU (actually-) is, how it works, and the extent to which the UK's membership has benefitted them personally, professionally and socially.

Undemocratic? Sovereignty? Clearly, from your comment above, you don't know the meaning of these words, you're still just parrotting Eurosceptic dog whistles.

The voting turnout and the results for the UK's EU elections say all that needs to be said on that front: close to *zero* progress in some 3 years.

You can't have it both ways. First you say that our newly elected largest party in the EU parliament has such little say it's irrelevant, and now you're saying that's not how the EU works and that we do have sovereignty. Which is it?

470,351 votes in Yorkshire and the Humber for the Brexit Party! Amazing!

23,459 votes for the Brexit Party in Barnsley (Labour came second with 7,693 votes).

30,016 votes for the Brexit Party in Doncaster (Labour came second with 11,393 votes).

53,600 votes for the Brexit Party in wealthy Leeds (Labour came second with 36,377 votes).

Brexit party is the top choice for voters all over Yorkshire!

Yorkshire is now an EU FREE ZONE.

Voters have firmly rejected the metropolitan, globalist bankers vision of the UK.

The most recent one as it is with how all laws are made in this country.  You do live in this country right?

Are you trying to be silly now?  Serious question, I need to know how low I need to go to debate with you now.

So we go with the most recent one, should we then have another one after another 3 years to make sure everyone still wants to Remain? Or is it a permanent answer when it's the one you agree with?

If you can yield a parliamentary majority to legislate for another referendum in three years time then go for it. This is how parliament works.

Did you genuinely not know that?

You are still clutching at straws!

However you try to spin the figures, there is no majority in the UK to leave the EU so to continue banging on about ‘the will of the people’ not only makes you look silly but also profoundly undemocratic!

Interestingly I have heard a number of interviews with normally Labour supporting voters today, who voted Lib Dem or Green for no other reason than they didn’t want to be counted as a Leave supporter by voting Labour. Labour now has no representation in Scotland at the European Parliament. If Corbyn still hasn’t realised that hanging onto the coat tails of a Tory Brexit spells electoral disaster for Labour then he needs to go and go now!

So when the Liberty Steelworks close down with the loss of hundreds of jobs, I can slow clap and say I told you so.  Seeing this materialise will be somewhat satisfying.  People need some form of pain to learn harsh lessons it seems.

So all the EU money that was given to South Yorkshire will be returned to the regional development fund right?  All the research money Sheffield University gets for example in building and running the AMRC can be returned?

How about this, all the EU doctors and nurses working at the Northern General, Royal  Hallamshire and Children's Hospital can have the option of not treating people like you?  Seems fair.

Leave won 52 per cent of the vote in the June 2016 EU referendum.

Leave won over 80 per cent of the vote in the 2017 general election.

Leave clearly won the 2019 European elections, despite some Remainers claiming that the only way to judge success EU style is to add all the losers votes together.

What is apparent is that some Remainers will not accept democratic votes unless they reflect their wishes. There is a word for this.

Fascism.

By following the democratic process of this country. Really?

We have a way to describe people like you. Unqualified. You fundamentally have no idea what you are talking about and have no idea how parliamentary process works. You have no will to learn. People like you cannot be educated. I suppose there is a reason why leavers do have lower attainment in education.

A fascist is a follower of a political philosophy characterized by authoritarian views and a strong central government — and no tolerance for opposing opinions. Fascist traces to the Italian word fascio, meaning "group, bundle." Under fascist rule, the emphasis is on the group — the nation — with few individual rights.

MMMMMmmm, make your own mind up, does it have a ring of truth, or not.
