Best of 7 finals, where did sport go wrong ? So I get from that description (tho' not your intention Mr. T.) that if the FA Cup was ran on such Gladitorial values then we would have to wait until late June until Doncaster Rovers became the winners. (over coming the likes of Skegness Town - a replay at that - and Manchester City}.

 Well, as you probably know we are in the second round of both the Hockey and Basketball playoffs over here, and every round is a best of seven event in both sports, including the final. Just one big money grab for all concerned. Just imagine if Wednesday had a best of 7 against Huddersfield a couple or three  years back, they would be up there already waiting for United to join them next year.  lol
