Best curry house in Sheffield?

7 spices @ WestBar Roundabout always a winner.

I used to think this place had got it spot on until around 3 years back we had a run of two or three visits during which the standard of the food and - it has to be said - the cleanliness of the restaurant, went downhill.

I will return but there are places which I'd rather visit in the knowledge that the food is better and the environment spotless. A shame because I always thought the staff at 7 Spices were great.

Really? the whole place has always been spotless when I visited, in fact in the last year or so it was even re-decorated. The staff are as friendly as they were 10 years ago in my eyes.

I have been to many Sheffield curry spots and found a lot to vary in quality and salt content !

On average 7 spices always produces a good curry at a very good price.

The bankers draft do a very good curry on a Thursday, curry and a drink for £6.09 I think, this place is just next to the castle square tram stop in the city centre.

Oh, I think most on here know where the Bankers is :hihi:

Rajput I like, good food and the BYO helps with the price!

I have never had a good experience with Buttlers since it moved. Service is good but the food is lacking something. Good variety on the pickle tray, decent portion sizes on the starters and mains, but just the quality that lets it down. Or maybe its the metalic taste you get from the balti dishes that I don't like!? I had a chicken and spinach balti last time I was in and it was full of a grit like substance, couldnt eat it.

If im eating round that end of town, I prefer 7 spices or Mangler

I used to go to Butlers all the time. The new place is stunning, but I think that you are right about the food not being the same.

A very clean well run place with excellent service, but what have they done to the curries?

I know the owner Sajid is a very proffessional gentleman, but has he changed chef? The sauces are what I would describe as very generic, with slight variation in hotness.

Yes you are right, something is lacking and needs putting right, because everything else IS right. Sort it Saj !

They have probably realised, like so many curry places that cater mainly to a white British clientele, that the quality of the food is not very important for most people.
