Is this the same Steve Gibson and Middlesborough that revalued their ground and training facilities in last years accounts  ?

First thing that needs looking @ is the sides relegated from the prem, this is inflating spending by the more ambitious championship clubs.

Some kind of spending cap.

I cant see what Gibson expects to gain,Derby have done nothing wrong and broken no rules.

Obviously Gibsons miffed at not getting promoted this season

I notice Gibson has only started moaning about this now the unfair parachute payments to his team have stopped.

Hes already asked the other clubs in this division to support him and got a unanimous NO,what more does he want?

The guy is starting to look like a complete tool, why doesnt he tackle the real reasons behind overspending or creative accounting, untill its a level playing field this will continue, for that hed get support

Maybe if they had managed to spend their parachute payments more wisely he wouldn't be so obsessed with other clubs trying to match the amount of money Boro had to spend.

There are fans of some clubs (those in particular that have been languishing in the Championship for far too long) that want to do away with FFP and allow their chairmen to spend as they wish.

The very same fans are equally  against clubs being relegated from the Premier league and receiving parachute payments.

Not asking for much are they?

This is really a discussion that is going nowhere and any more time spent on it would be pointless.

Well, he is right already isn't he?, Derby had their ground valued at 41 million in their books, or something like that, and "sold it" for double that amount.

"Creative accounting" doesn't even come into it...........

Money has spoilt the game and although we could argue that there has never been a perfectly level playing field, that is the case now more than ever before, the bitter acrimony and squabbling will become more a part of the gamesmanship and fan banter than ever before too. Here are a couple of things to consider, the likes of Wednesday and United will be extremely fortunate to ever compete with the top end Premier League clubs in the future as things currently stand financially and on a more local theme  regarding stadia Wednesday built their own ground while United inherited a cricket ground
