Well, he is right already isn't he?, Derby had their ground valued at 41 million in their books, or something like that, and "sold it" for double that amount.

"Creative accounting" doesn't even come into it...........

Blame the ridiculous rules that made Derby consider doing this in the first place.

You mean the rules that the vast majority of clubs stick to?

For the moment they do but the tide is turning, what other industry stops someone spending their own money whilst showering failures with it, the idea in principle is ok but they've gone about it in a totally hamfisted way, I'm pretty sure it will be challenged legally once it starts to affect the majority.

So you think an EFL club will take the EFL to court?

Once it starts to affect more clubs then yes, its a possibility. Who is actually gaining from these rules?

All of us are.Preventing clubs from spending more than they are earning hopefully stops them going to the wall owing the little operates who do work for them .When running my business a company who owed me went pear shaped after stupidly spending cash and I had to sack two guys who were more like friends than employees due to this companies idiotic financial management .Football has to live in the real world because sooner or later  I can see more Boltons on the way.If Bolton had not met their commitments in the way of playing matches this season the Championship table would look very different to what it looks now.The Clubs that had taken points of them would have had them taken away from them so as to be fair to other clubs who had NOT played them. How would you have felt say if them points you had earned led your team to be relegated? These rules go a long way to protecting ALL the clubs and fans in this league from those who not only put there own club in jeopardy but OTHERS to .What  scares me is some clubs that have nearly gone over the cliffe before can not wait to go over it again.Unreal.

Like I said earlier the essence is a good idea, how its been set out isn't. Giving failed teams vast amounts of money inflates the transfer market causing teams that crave the dreadful Premier League (god knows why) into spending over the odds for players, clubs are still gambling like Wolves did creating an unfair playing field, not all owners are unscrupulous and some guarentee and proper vetting could be put in place to stop this nonsense. One of the great fairy tales in the game was Jack Walker making his lifelong club Champions and sealing their financial future, he wouldn't be allowed to do that today.

As for Bolton they got into trouble by trying to chase the virtually untouchable top 6 elite in the Premier League and are still paying for it to this day. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the EPL will be the death of the game in this country.

I can not disagree with you about The Prem I to feel it is not a patch on the Championship. One of the main things that is wrong with the prem and there are a few is it being such an uneven league. One thing I feel that would improve it is a scheme that operates in the Championship which is a FFP scheme maybe Bolton would still be on a sound financial footing .As it stands you do not have to be a genius to name the six top clubs in the prem at the end of NEXT years season. In the Championship things are not as predictable making for a much more interesting competition .The prem on the other hand is getting boring and so predictable the cup final was a prime example 6.0. I ask you it is the first time I switched a cup final off BORING NO MATCH.We will have a top flight league very much like Scottish football has which is just has predictable which must get boring for the fans of other clubs knowing very well who will win the league come September. If the guys in charge do nothing which I am sure that is what they will do nothing you could be right the game could start to die just like the pubs have but do not hold your breath they are to busy grabbing the money of Sky and Virgin to bother.

Agreed, when Manchester City and Liverpool finish 40+ points above the team in 7th you've got problems.

Exactly right don't get me wrong I am so pleased that my club has been promoted  because if you are successful that's what happens but I feel we are not going to be playing for anything other than avoiding being relegated and in a funny sort of way that would be better. At least you are playing for something even if it is to avoid the drop.Being mid table with not a cat in hell's chance of going any further seems pointless you are just making up the numbers.Playing to avoid the drop at least gives your matches a purpose and gets the adrenaline going .
