Weredoomed   10 #37 Posted June 24, 2019 Sigh. Yes it is inherently unsafe. If the clueless idiot realises their mistake and decides to move on they are now moving onto a pedestrian crossing which is displaying a green man. Not hard to see how unsafe the secondary position is now, is it?  Will I drop the council a line? No, as they won't do anything about it based on a single complaint, deploying the standard SCC excuse, "We've no money". Best to leave it until someone is injured or killed, then they might do something about it. Or more likely not, "It's just a one-off fluke". Right. Until the next time. You are free to raise it with them if you wish, given your apparent contacts there.
 Share this content via...

It could be unsafe though if you then set off again without properly observing what other road users may be doing . 23 minutes ago, Weredoomed said: Will I drop the council a line? No, Thought not.  Something we see all too often on here, folk who like to have a moan on-line but can't be bothered to just send an email to the people who can actually do something about it.... Weredoomed   10 #39 Posted June 24, 2019 Stopping at a non-existent stop line is inherently unsafe as it, in this case, can cause the road to be blocked. It can introduce uncertainty to pedestrians wishing to cross. Which around a hospital area and one full of foreign students too boot can never be a good thing. SCC didn't fully consider the design of this junction and went for the minimum quantity of equipment. The road safety audit also failed to pick up on the flaw. As if road safety audits were ever 100% perfect.  So, as an SCC old boy, are you going to get in touch with your former colleagues, given that they won't pay any attention to this member of the public?
