A fair amount actually.

Are you going to answer my question?

In which case, you already have the answer to your question.

Wasn’t it Wilson who described Labour as owing more to Methodism than to Marx.

If it wasn't for Christian values there wouldn't even be a Labour Party.

If you read my post properly you would see that I said that the left takes a dim view of religion not the Labour Party which covers a wide spectrum of political belief from Corbyn on the left to Kate Hoey and Tony Blair on the right.

And if it only had  left-wing Marxist dictators full of their own self-importance I certainly wouldn't be voting for it.

The left can mean at least two different things though, socialist and/or liberalist, the latter is most definitely not driven by religion.

No I don't.

Explain it to me.

If you know “quite a bit” about Keir Hardy, for example. Then you should maybe pause and analyse what you know. The answer to your question lies there, in part. There is nothing mysterious about the Christian influence on the early Labour Party.

Oh, just so you know. Saying  “please” next time, will help you to elicit a more helpful response from me.

Whether there is a Christian influence on the foundtion Labour Party or not is not the claim we are discussing.

Only a distraction from the actual topic though.

Lol youve been pretty blunt and are wrong.

True.  I was just challenging a claim, didn't realise so many would follow down the rabbit hole.

Having a wide spectrum of beliefs and balance of opinions is what every democratic political party should encompass.

That's why Labour is considered to be a broad-church party, and thats how I hope it will remain.

One can support many. I'm generally a supporter of the underdog rather than the very wealthy and powerful - I think most sane people are.

One can't support both when they're in direct contradiction. So who do you support? Equal rights for homosexuals, or freedom to express and exercise religious beliefs?

You can in the case that you raise.

It is perfectly possible to support equal rights for LGBT people and freedom of expression for religious groups.

The obvious quid pro quo is that you’d also support freedom of expression of those opposed to the bigoted views of the religious people.

I’d hope that most people would be comfortable with that.
