Why were they not at work? ........If they were in MY Employ they would be fired on the spot.

Even I can think of at least four reasons why they might not have been at work at that particular time of day – and none of those reasons involve unemployment benefits. If you are indeed an employer yourself, I'm sure you can probably beat my four reasons if you really thought about it.

Yes, we were at cross purposes. I meant, I could think of four reasons why someone [not employed by you] would not be at work at that time.

I can't help it FinBak, but I now think of you as some kind of Scrooge-type employer. My apologies too. I'll try and shake that image from my head.

Thank goodness you'll never be in a position to fire anyone.

Your small print..!   Well,  if you can make an opinion of ME as scathing as that... that's how much you can trust what is said On-Line.

I would rather cross your palm with Gold the sooner than take it away from you.

It's sad that folks get the wrong impression.  That's life.

You're clearly as thick as two short planks and will never be in a position to employ anyone.

It is. I knew I should have employed some jovial emoticons to show the lightness of my subscript, but I prefer not to use them. Hey ho. As you say 'That's life'.
