As far as I can tell, there's nothing stopping you buying it and donating it.

If ever you see anything history related you think ought to be in Sheffield Archives let them know as they will purchase anything of importance.  If you feel strongly enough you can always donate some money towards the purchase.

And to your other question- the only thing stopping me from buying it myself is because I don't have the money to buy it - otherwise I would !

Thanks Daven - I agree. Sheffield Archives are always glad of a thumbs up when ever anything relating to Sheffield History is for sale.
