DO WE BLADES NOW CHEER THE OWLS ?

The Owls are on a roll, and have both Leeds and Norwich to play, the Owls therefore have a say in the automatic play off positions, if the Owls won both it would help the Blades quest for an automatic place, and help the Owls quest for a play off place.

Hence the thread ..do we Blades now cheer on the Owls???

what a season for Sheffield if the club double came off, sending a real message to the footballing world.

In my opinion Preston will also have a say in the run in, playing many of the top teams while also hoping to make the play offs, interesting times.

Oh yeah, with our record! FA will deduct us points for collaboration!!

Many a true word said in jest.If Bolton get a winding up order on Wednesday in court the Blades goal difference compared to Leeds will be cut to just 2 goals or maybe 3 which is nothing compared to how it stands now. With our track record that could well happen.

Could you explain why the goal difference would be affected? Cheers.

I shall try if Bolton are wound up which is possible on Wednesday all the games that they have played will be wiped off or void Seeing that we won them by so many goals (I forget how many but it was a few) the goals scored would also be wiped clean.Where as Leeds just won them by the odd single goal .So leeds would lose just one goal we would lose several goals

My understanding is that clubs lose points for going into administration but I'm not aware that their games for the season are voided.

Can someone confirm or clarify?

You are right they do lose points if they go in to admin but we are talking of the club actually being wound up or put out of business meaning it will no longer be around. They are in dire trouble the players are owed their wages that have not been payed for two month and they owe the tax man millions this is a typical example why the league has put in the these financial restrictions on clubs.Clubs would still be spending far to much cash they do not have trying to buy success hoping they will achieve their dreams .When they don't they end up like Bolton and it effects all the other clubs to.Like the Blades clubs will lose points or goal difference which could be worth a point. These restrictions are in place to try and protect individual clubs but also the clubs in the same league who stand to lose out on points and goal differences.

If Bolton are put out of business the only way to be fair to ALL clubs is to make all the Bolton games void because other clubs have not played them yet so if clubs that have played them and won it would mean they have a unfair advantage on those clubs who have not had the chance to play them .Hopefully some body might step in and buy the club and pay the debts but they are leaving it mighty late. Some one might want it to go out of business and then set up a new football club in Bolton free of all debts of the old club.Others might come in and meet all that are owed money ask them to take a reduced sum in order that they get a small amount of cash rather than nothing at all which was done at Sheff 6 in that way the club will survive but at a cost to all those that are owed money.

So what you are saying is that in your opinion, if a club is wound up, the games should be voided to make it fair to those clubs who have not played them twice. That's fair comment, but is that what actually happens?

Rather than opinions, what procedures are in place?

You can't support the opposing side

It would be as bad as an Winston Churchill choosing to support the Germans during WW2

Yes wish them luck, certainly don't support

Hi Dave it is not my opinion it is procedure that is in place if such a problem were to arise but we can breath easy because I have just been told they have been given another two weeks grace  because the present owners have told the court they have found a buyer which is good news for all the clubs that have already played them and won.It is good news for clubs that are owed money from Bolton to but it just brings home what chaos would be caused by clubs who find them selves in difficulty the league table could look so different to what it looks now with clubs who have got six points from the games having them took away from them plus it would alter goal differences to.People who object to the financial rules the league have introduced should remember they also protect all the other clubs in the league not just those who spend money they do not have.

Hope this helps..

From 2007–08, any club entering administration after the fourth Thursday in March would have their 10-point deduction suspended until the following season. If the club is relegated the points will be deducted from their tally at the start of next season. If the club stays up the 10 points will be taken off their final total.

Thanks Alan for that but what we were discussing was the effect it would have on other clubs if a club was actually wound up at put out of business all to gether which some parts of the media were saying is possible in Boltons case. This is the forth time I believe that Bolton have been in court and the feeling was that they are pushing their luck but as you say if they are put in administration you are correct in your explanation regarding points deduction.Points deduction though is not a option if the club is wound up and closed the club ceases to exist .
