They're a myth anyway, Congress approves trade deals and they've been pretty clear any threat to the GFA will negate any possibility of a deal.

 

The whole thing is ridiculous ... Boris was calling Trump "Out of His Mind"  and saying he had "a quite stupefying ignorance that makes him, frankly, unfit to hold the office of president of the United States." in tweets not long ago... don't see Trump getting upset about that.... it's all just fake outrage.

Farmers should be fine until the next GE, since No.11 will be picking up the EU's UK CAP bill...

 

...provided that Boris honours Theresa's pledge about it (via Gove as her Minister for Agriculture), and doesn't u-turn in the face of falling tax receipts post-Brexit.

 

Leave-voting farmers have certainly gambled their livelihood big-time, to the same extent as all other Leaver voters whose livelihoods are heavily dependent on exports and/or EU funding.

 

Their free and democratic choice; so, just as democratically, they should assume the eventual consequences and, for the Leave-voting ones, not expect any sympathy.

It hasn’t been since the US started to withhold nuclear secrets from us in the 1950’s.

 

Trump is actually bang on with his love of the Queen. If it wasn’t for the US obsession with the English royal family we would be seen as just another ‘little country’. Before I first went to the states, I was told that as soon as you open your mouth anywhere in the US you will be treated like royalty when they hear the English accent. In reality, outside New York, Boston and San Francisco most English accents are taken to be Australian.

Why didn't we just claim the leaked documents were fake new and say this will be proven in the near future and move on? Thats all Trump does every time a scandal erupts around him.

Some agricultural areas voted heavily for Brexit, unfortunately as is often the case the locals don't do the manual labour on the farms anymore and have reacted badly to migrant workers coming in to take the jobs they no longer want.

 

I think most Farmers knew staying in the EU was their best option, they couldn't influence the vote of the locals though.

I don’t know about other areas, but the vast majority of farmers in Lincolnshire did actually vote for Brexit.

 

Anyone still in any doubt that many people voted Leave from a position of complete ignorance should remember the Newsnight interview with a Lincolnshire farmer a few days after the referendum. He was asked who would pick his crops after Brexit. When he replied that his crops would still be picked by Romanians, the interviewer pointed out that this would no longer be possible after we leave the EU. When the farmer replied that he saw no reason why this would change, the interviewer replied “Mr (farmer), do you actually know what you voted for last week, because it sounds very much like you didn’t?”

Too late, Sir Darroch has now resigned.

 

So much for "taking back control", when it results in handing it over to Trump on a platter, with a flake and glitter on top.

 

Some quarters have it that Sir Darroch took his decision after Boris refused to back him, though I think it's simply because that vital bridge between the local head of state and an ambassador to the country, was burnt to cinders after the leak (...even though Boris' far worse insults about Trump, strangely haven't elicited any such ire from the Orange one). 

 

Oakeshott, a close ally of Farage, published the leak in the Daily Mail, so Brexiters get to wear that one (...yet again ).

 

Now connect all these dots and some others (such as Farage's close ties with  the Trumpian sphere), and what's the betting that this was orchestrated for Johnson to name Farage as UK ambassador to the US?

 

It would be highly controversial, sure...but too controversial for Boris?

But they wear it as a badge of honour, not one to be ashamed of. Trump gets his man and another foreign power steers the UK again and farage etc cheer.

 

I wonder what foreign ambassadors write in their emails about us. I've said for a while that farage has been lining himself up for an important role somewhere and US ambassador could be it. He can't get the job as an MP so it rules out the jobs he really wants but this should stroke his ego quite nicely. 

 

But in the UK today a 7 time loser in general elections and part time radio host with no diplomatic experience is vying for the most important and desired roles in the diplomatic service, and is no doubt being considered by Johnson.
