Th eu isn’t corrupt billy liar.

Stop lying.

And unless Boris is going to start knocking of MPs and forcing by elections, he still hasn’t got the numbers. There are some tories prepared to bring down th government rather than go out on a no-deal.

In other news, the Boris pr machine rumbles forward hammering the bbc across the front pages. No mention about the questions that weren’t answered properly (or just straight lies) nah, let’s jump on who asked the questions - one of which sounds a revolting individual - the rest, meh.

All speculation, on your part, to try to back up an overwhelming desire for it to be brexit based.

None of the issues highlighted are speculation, they're reasons that make the UK operation the most obvious choice for closure.

Your own link states it's to do with the move to streaming instead of physical media:

"In a statement released to What Hi-Fi?, Sony said: "As consumer habits in the home entertainment market continue to evolve, Sony DADC in England announced its proposal to close its distribution site in Enfield, England."

They would... wouldn't they... just like Honda did, wasn't entirely true there either :?

So.. about those vans crossing the border illegally...... you've got a plan... right?

Brexit in October getting less likely according to the odds. Was 5/2 now 2.65/1

Not before 2022 dips to 3.45/1 from 7/2

Everybody knows Johnson can’t deliver it.

Long extension or revoke are only realistic options

Completely different topic. Anyone of substance would have the the character to concede it wasn't relevant. Answers in here are often like watching the tory leadership debate, where they squirm onto talking about something else rather than just giving a straight answer. This isn't Question Time, it's 'supposed' to be a forum where normal people speak to each other.

It's a topic that has been under discussion over the last two days

Anyone of substance wouldn't be spending all their time on faux indignace to avoid responding.

They say, while doing precisely that! :hihi:

Weirdly, when normal people speak to each other, they sometimes ask questions! Who'd have thunk it!

So, do you have a plan, or is it just more unicorns and wishful thinking?

Standard "shoot the messenger" whattaboutery . I'm surprised they didn't label Ms Maitlins as an 'enemy of the people', tbh

More interesting (non-)news was Mark Rutte's interview this morning on BBC R4 (nothing new in the EU position, other than they hope the UK will not waste time by having the new PM going over territory already covered before).

You're the only person I've seen or heard try to blame it on brexit. Then, rather than just admit it isn't, like anybody else would do, just tried to start talking about other things.

Your link was not a brexit story. Get over it, there are other things that guide companies.

Not at all, I'm quite happy to keep talking about it...

Actually I asked the NI border question in my original response along with the Sony stuff, so I'm not trying to divert attention at all, that'd be you!

I've highlighted the reasons I think Brexit will have influenced the decision of which distribution centre Sony would close, if you can dispute the points I raise, have at it!

Apparently, neither was Honda, and "officially" neither will be the next Japanese company that bails... though, as everyone who works in that sector made plain, of course Brexit is a factor.

In reality, Japanese companies are doing exactly what they said they would do...

Indeed, especially ones that have no idea what costs they're going to have to bear in a region that has, apparently... gone mad!

Bathstore nears collapse, risking 700 jobs & 168 stores

https://www.retailgazette.co.uk/blog/2019/06/bathstore-nears-collapse-placing-700-jobs-168-stores-risk/

"Bathstore, the UK’s biggest bathroom specialist, faces collapse putting 700 jobs, 168 stores at risk. Bathstore’s chairman, Geoff Battersby, said the company had been hit by a marked reduction in consumer confidence in 2017 and increased sourcing costs following the devaluation of sterling in the wake of the 2016 Brexit vote."

Don't tell me, bad management

The Sony distribution centre is nothing to do with brwxit.

Your bathstore story is. If they are importing a lot, their costs will have gone up. It will affect companies who import more than their competitors do. If their competitors import the same amount,  all their costs will raise proportionally of course. So it depends how elastic the market is for their product.

Thankfully that trend isn't as widespread as you'd hope. Employment and wage growth are both continuing.

It’s not just the increase cost of imports - consumer confidence was specifically highlighted. It’s not just whether demand is affected by price.
