Precision strike doesn’t necessarily mean drones, it means precision strikes. We make some very precise weapons.

The EU wants all of those things I mentioned AND armed drones.

The EU project of peace wants international arms manufacturers to make very precise enhanced and upgraded weapons for the EU.

The lessons of the last 75 years tell us that effective defence is peace. That’s precise weapons , sound political structures and dialogue.

The EU has done a good job at keeping the peace in Europe. We are the warmongers when sucking up to the USA.

"The establishment of an EU military research programme points towards an unprecedented acceleration in the militarisation of the EU. Investing EU funds in military research will not only divert resources from more peaceful areas, but is also likely to fuel arms races, undermining security in Europe and elsewhere".

Dr Stuart Parkinson, Executive Director of 'Scientists for Global Responsibility'.

"The EU is prioritising highly controversial research, such as the development of robotic weapon systems. Not only will this exacerbate a global race in such technologies, but this could also lead to an increase in arms exports to repressive regimes and fuel conflict."

Why does an economic trading bloc need cutting edge robotic weapons systems?

You’ve not understood my point, or the purpose of the EU.

The purpose and nature of the EU has changed.

When has the  EU needed to fund research into controversial weapons, such as armed drones and killer robots, in the past?  These so-called 'disruptive technologies' are a priority in the European Defence Fund and are set to receive up to 10 percent of overall funding.

The EU is determined that such advanced weapons of war will be created.

The European Defence Fund - which will support the development of armed drones and robotic weapons systems - will, naturally, undermine the already shallow democratic procedures of the EU by excluding the EU Parliament from exercising its veto powers over annual spending on the Fund.

The fig leaf EU Parliament will be just a rubber stamping body. The EDF has been criticised for the blanket of secrecy surrounding its ethical assessment of projects and the lack of transparency regarding potential conflicts of interest.

That really depends on how much lying and currupt dealing in the election campaign occurs now...

If the validity of voting results depends on the veracity of campaigns then we need to overturn the results since parliament began.

We do that now of our own free will with no encouragement from the EU.  Not the EU's fault as you try to make out.

No. We mustn't blame the EU peace initiative for designing advanced cutting edge weapons of war at the expense of peaceful projects.
