The country voted to harm itself. Our elected officials are trying to mitigate that. They're doing it really badly, but that's what they're trying to do.

Let’s run this through step by step.

May’s deal has been voted down twice by heavy defeats. It is very unlikely how she can suddenly turn 150 people to support her deal. Before your pedantic self say she only lost by 149. One MP didn’t vote because his wife was in labour and voted against her last time. So chances are, he’ll need convincing too.

Parliament tonight toughened the exit by no deal motion and passed it. So Parliament has expressed its will in that leaving without a deal is unacceptable. There will be some who say that the parliamentary vote was non binding. The referendum was none binding. How well did that go?

So, we can’t leave with the PM’s deal. We can’t leave with no deal. The PM is too stubborn to explore other deals. So what is really left? Extension of A50, but only if there is a real reason to as indicated by the EU27. So an extension seems improbable. We can’t hold a referendum unless we have an extension as planning for one takes about 22 weeks. 22 weeks we don’t have.

So what is left? Revocation of A50 is the natural conclusion.

sadly i may think you are right. However the fun and game will start at the EU election

After this fiasco democracy is dead in this Country , The voters are being ignored by the very people we put in power to carry our wishes through . A new political system needs to be talked about as we can no longer have faith in the way those in Government treat the voting public.

Which voters? The ones you agree with?

Democracy should work for all, not the few!

Shame Brian Rix isn't with us any longer was my first thought tonight, followed by wondering how our PM controls her temper.

Wouldn't it have been wonderful if she'd stood up, on live TV, and said

"Oh, **** off, the lot of you!" and stormed out...

I think you will agree that the time to argue the supposed rights and wrongs of the referendum result are long gone, and that we should just go.

I don't, unsurprisingly.

But yes, you should go. Only way for the electorate to learn fast and first-hand, what EU membership did for them.

The catharsis would make you such a better Member, when you eventually rejoin.

We had  a vote in 1975 in which the people said what they wanted...

Are you saying that the electorate should be allowed to change their minds...?

(Be careful with your answer, because you know what David Davis said (see my footer))

After all, perhaps a 3rd referendum would be the best way forwards, or would that be undemocratic?

This is the step on which the Moggster falls down...

He keeps claiming that to ignore the leave voters of the UK would be undemocratic, without accepting that it wasn't a majority of the UK population...

It isn't and it never will be.
