Reparing cut Keyboard USB cable

Recommended Posts

Just got a 2 hand Technet KB from e bay, but when I opened it, the usb cable was split in half and frayed, I can't be sure i didn't do it when i opened the package with(quite blunt) scissors, and Hermes had shoved it through the letterbox, anyway, I wonder if it is easy to cut and replace the cables together, I did manage to parise the KB open and the cable is not soldered but goes into a 5pin socket, can't see these on e bay, proprietary?

If anyone wanted to try I could drop the cable off, its a decent KB, tx

It's not really worth it, they are a cheapy brand keyboard any way...

By the time you factor in cost of solder, electricity usage for the iron, time taken to sort it out etc, you might as well have just bought a new one...

Hi

They are about 25/30 pounds, and the model is now quite rare, i looked on a video at it takes about 10 mins, i think its worth the try.

well, i could have a go for you, if it's just a broken cable, somewhere in the 'middle', it's easily fixable.

(middle as-in, the plugs on either end are ok)
