Comic Relief is one of the better charities IMO which has done a lot of good work and actually helped people. The key is they send useful stuff or set up projects themselves rather than just sending money. Unfortunately we live in an age when some charities have become tax dodging, money making concerns for the directors etc. which gives them all a bad name. We have been pouring money into them with little effect, but somebody, somewhere is getting rich,. So do your homework before giving. The idea that charity is necessary in this day and age, (and it is,) is also troubling when many of the problems should be tackled at government level. Surely having a famous face is a bonus to help raise awareness of what the charity is trying to do, and encourage the public to donate. When he says white people are portrayed as saviours that’s what they are, raising funds for the charity. Even if they are a black celebs fund raising, they are all saviours. Don’t know much about this MP, could be he is trying to make a name for himself, or was he a bit annoyed that Stacey won strictly like me. I wonder what the charities think of his comments? The British Royal family has benefited from the wealth stolen from the people of other nations for centuries. If the Royals were genuine about helping the world's poor they would donate their considerable wealth instead of manipulating the poorest in this country to donate on their behalf. sheffbag 227 #35 Posted March 1, 2019 The irony is that Lammy is criticising Dooley for going out there to raise awareness and funds yet has declined to reply to an offer from the BBC and Comic Relief to go out there himself to support them. The guy is a wassock as Capstick would say
 Share this content via...

One example is "the world does not need any more white saviours" in response to Stacey Dooley's post of her Comic Relief expedition. He doesn't seem to like seeing white people help black people for some reason.
 Share this content via...
