Sorry for the delayed reply, workmen in the house.  The problem is, its all lit up but when you try to work it  U99 comes on the display and you hear a click.

Buying a second hand model would probably be your best bet.

1. Turn on your player. (But not in the TV Guide menu.)
2. Press & Hold the channel Up AND the channel Down button on the machine.
3. Wait until the unit says "BYE" and turns off.
4. Unplug the player, wait 30seconds.
5. Plug the player back in, turn on & re-enter setup.
