Eccy Beach   11 #38 Posted February 20, 2019 Rumours of Eccy Road's demise are premature in my opinion - in the last few years a number of micro pubs have sprung up offering a more diverse selection of venues (the micro sports bar is my new favourite place to watch sport), there's still a plethora of chain and independent restaurants catering for a wider range of tastes and a very exciting project next to Spar which should be open soon.  Some businesses will come and go quickly but the buildings don't seem to be empty for too long before someone else has a crack at it. 1978 Â Â 14 #39 Posted February 20, 2019 January is always the worst month for restaurants. Even those doing badly will hang in to capture the Christmas trade. It's the same for many other shops too. Â Rentals are often paid on quarter days and meeting that December payment is often the crunch point. The prospect of staggering on to March can be a step too far, and that will be another critical time. Â Â
 Share this content via...

What's in store for that location, I know it's being refurbished.
 Share this content via...

Odd reference, the Champs Elysees is mostly lined with shops, not bars and restaurants. It's a reference that I've heard made many times about Ecclesall Road - it's not something I invented. The Champs Elysee in Paris is indeed regarded as one of the prime shopping areas, so is (or was) Ecclesall Road in Sheffield.
 Share this content via...

Not much. A smattering of overpriced boutiques, a FatFace and a White Stuff, a couple of electronic places, a shoe-repair shop, a few novelty shops selling presents etc, a smattering of charity shops, an M&S, Tesco and Sainsbury and a florist or two, as well as the usual convenience stores. Oh, and a Boots. Shoppers hunched over bags of stuff bought there are rare indeed.   Unless they're looking for guns of course (actually hasn't that place closed down and turned into yet another trendy barber / mens grooming place?). I dunno. I could be wrong.
 Share this content via...
