K1Machine #13 Posted February 2 I really do not see why anyone would pay it. The Capita sales people lie to you from the moment you open the door. Some use bullying tactics to get the vulnerable to pay. Some outright lie to get other people into court. The BBC is a terrible organization who would not get the steam off my wizz let alone £154.50 per year especially when you see the dross they output and the pedophiles they have covered for. Janus #14 Posted February 3 If they call round I'll show them last year's license. If they're not happy I'll point out that a lot of the programs are last year's.
 Share this content via...

Didn't the BBC schedule over Xmas have over 40% of repeats? I rarely have the BBC on these days apart from the news and the occasional programme. They seem to think that people want to watch quiz shows, repeats and shows like Homes under the Hammer. it is time that the BBC was an option that can be bought if you want it, just like Sky you can pay for the channels that you want to watch. Janus #17 Posted February 4 I think only a tiny minority would be willing to pay for the BBC given the choice, especially when there are all them free view chanels. I also think the organisation know that too. Isn't it an offence not to have a licence? I think we are supposed to have a license for anything that can receive their broadcasts-including a smart phone. 🙈
 Share this content via...
Car Boot #18 Posted February 4 More than 860,000 TV licences were cancelled in 2017-18, compared with 798,000 in 2016-17. Poor quality programmes, an increasingly expensive BBC TV Licence fee and greater choice elsewhere are driving people to scrap the BBC and dump the outdated and regressive BBC TV Licence fee in the dustbin of history. This is 2019, not 1979.
 Share this content via...
bendix #19 Posted February 4 I won't be renewing my license this year. I stream any terrestial tv through an IPTV subscription. But even that is a fraction of what I watch. I'm not wasting money on it anymore. If CB's figures are correct, then the costs of chasing down non-compliants is going to exponentially higher than the income they get from it. Bugger that. I'm not giving my hard-earned cash up to any organisation that calls Andrew Neill a journalist.
 Share this content via...

Janus #21 Posted February 4 Car boot, 860,000 is a lot. I wonder if people are just not watching TV, or maybe these people just don't bother about a license any more. I don't hear about people being prosecuted on a grand scale. They used to say even if you have a video recorder and no TV you still must have a license, as the video can receive the signal being transmitted.
